Welcome to Svapantha
I have wanted to keep a blog for a long time. The idea sat in my mind for years, the way an unwritten letter sits on a desk. Now here it is. If you are reading this, you have come on the very first day. Welcome.
The name is Svapantha. It is made of two small words. Sva means one's own. Pantha means a path. Together they mean: one's own path. That is all this blog is. A path I am walking, and writing down as I go.
I am not a scholar. I have no great authority. What I have is curiosity, and a habit of reading about old times, and a wish to tell those stories again in my own words. When I call these my learnings, I mean just that. They are mine. They may not always be right, and I will surely change my mind over the years. That is part of walking a path.
Why history? Because the past is full of people who were much like us. They were afraid and proud. They hoped, and made mistakes, and lived with them. When I read of a city that fell, I am really reading about people. And I understand myself a little better.
So here you will find stories from history, told slowly and plainly. I am in no hurry, and I hope you are not either. Some pieces will stand alone. Some will run on across several parts, because a few stories are too long for one sitting.
This is a quiet place. There are no comments to argue over. But I would still like to know you are here. If a piece pleases you, you can say so with a single tap. And if you wish to send me a private word, there is a small way to do that too. I will read every one.
There is nothing more to do now but begin. Thank you for coming this far. The path is open.
Let us walk it together.
